Christmas in the Air

Yesterday we joined the Glass family for a little tree hunting adventure out at the hunting shack. My dad and Uncle Glenn were already out there enjoying the gorgeous weather.

It was  great to be out in the sunshine.

Sawyer liked coming along for a little ride in his sled.

Then we headed home to get the tree in… finally starting to feel like Christmas around here!

An Exceptional Weekend

img_2241 img_2253 img_2254

I’m sad I don’t have better pictures to share of the wonderful time we spent with the Johnsons. We had such a great time visiting, meeting some of their family for the first time – getting to know others we’ve been fortunate enough to meet before. We spent time cooking together, scoping out bargains, eating out, watching movies (YEA for ELF!), laughing, reminiscing, catching up… The hardest part of these trips is not knowing  the next time we’ll get to do it all again.

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend and had a chance to remember all we have to be thankful for!

To My Friends Who are Ebates Skeptics (or just annoyed by their thousand e-mails)…

And you know who you are! Just think, you too could experience the joys of an Ebates “Big Fat Check” four times a year. 🙂

Computer Fun

Earlier this fall I gave myself the assignment of learning more about Photoshop. Playing with pictures of my favorite babies has become one of my greatest time wasters lately. This technique is called the “woodcut effect”. It’s simple – the directions are accessible from the start up window. I think I’d like to do a little picture book at some time just using this effect… maybe an easy reader for when the babies get a little older. Not sure, but in the meantime I think it’ll be time for me to try a new technique.

I Have a Wheel Watcher Spin ID

Yep. I do. And the crazy thing is that I’ve had it for around 7 years now. I’m just waiting for the moment that we’re all sitting around watching Wheel (a nightly occurrence) and I see my number pop up. Get ready world. It’s going to be a big deal.

Silly things like my spin ID, or $1 Christmas socks have been getting me through the days lately. I’m not sure why this daylight savings change has been so hard on me this year – but I feel like I’ve been wiped out for 2 weeks. (I’m sure it has nothing to do with all the germs being passed around my classroom… hooray for hand sanitizer!)

Crazy as the days have been, time just keeps on flying by. We’ve got a freezer full of venison thanks to my hubby and his dad. And I bought my first seal-a-meal to celebrate. I’ve been sealing all kinds of goodies up – well, really just meat, but the possibilities are endless!

Last night was “girls’ night” at April’s. I always enjoy getting out and visiting with friends that I don’t get to see often enough. Add in good food and a couple of games, and you’ve got a successful evening.

Things around here have been good. And with the weekend just around the corner, they’re looking even better. 🙂

Opening Weekend

While the guys were out chasing deer through the woods, I was busy being spoiled rotten at my Auntie Sharon’s.

April, Stacy, and I met up at our aunts for a girls’ day like we used to do many years ago before life seemed to get so busy. We spent the day chatting and eating and relaxing. Auntie Sharon had homemade soup and bread, all the ingredients for us to make our favorite treats, and had even made this beautiful (and DELICIOUS) grasshopper torte.

It was a gorgeous, sunny, and warm November day. What a perfect weekend.

Halloween Adventures

I’m sorry that there are no pictures of me as an m&m dancing to “Thriller” in the middle of the school gym. Really, I would love to be able to share that moment with all of you…

Instead, I’ll give you a glimpse into my Saturday afternoon.

Mighty Fishermen

Dad, Uncle Glenn, and Jesse have been busy checking the whitefish nets every night. This evening was cold and rainy, but it didn’t stop these guys from getting out to empty their catch.
