Driving Home Friday Afternoon

Remembering

I know I am blessed to have so many wonderful memories of my grandmas. It’s hard to believe that it’s already been two years since we had to say goodbye to them. Here are a few of my favorite quotes that  sum up how lucky I was to be blessed with two wonderful women that I got to call Grandma.

A grandmother is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher, and a little bit best friend.

There’s no place like home except Grandma’s.  ~Author Unknown

Grandmas hold our tiny hands for just a little while, but our hearts forever.  ~Author Unknown

Elephants and grandchildren never forget.  ~Andy Rooney

Okay, so the Andy Rooney quote was mostly just because it was from Andy Rooney – and I can’t remember what it was, but April, Gram A, and I had a joke about him. I hadn’t thought of that in years.

Lazy Day

Today has been a lazy day. Sometimes that’s just what you need.

Everyone Should Have an Uncle Bill

My Uncle Bill is a great guy. He’s a great story teller and just fun to be around. We all look forward to the times when he visits.

Today, Kate and Luke came to spend the afternoon with us. Kate wanted to be right next to her Uncle Bill the whole time she was here.

Really, everyone should have an Uncle Bill.

Game Duty

I had game duty tonight. Luckily, so did April. My legs are sore, and I am tired. Just another Friday night here! Gosh – I am just now realizing how much better I feel than I did last week at this time. Hooray.

April and I  spent over an hour changing in coins that our elementary  students raised for a local family with major medical issues. April organized the drive, and she’s done really cool activities with her class about accepting differences and caring for each other. It was really neat to watch those coins total into a great number that will hopefully help this family make a dent in their medical costs.

Tomorrow I’m sleeping in. Then we’ll play with Kate and Luke for the afternoon. And who knows what Sunday will bring. I’m hoping for warmer weather, though.

Daylight

The light was coming up behind the trees across the bay before I left for work this morning. That sure helps.

8 PM

Bill and I headed outside around 8 tonight. It is a clear, crisp evening. The stars are twinkling overhead, but otherwise it’s quite dark. It’s hard to believe that 8:00 can feel so late.

Something Different

Today April found a new recipe on Pintrest. I couldn’t wait to try it. Apparently microwave mug cakes have become all the rage. I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical, but the recipes had good reviews. And now, well, I’m on board!

What I love about this recipe is that it literally takes less than 5 minutes from start to finish, and it’s really tasty. This particular recipe is the Chocolate Peanut Butter Mug Cake, but I also made the 2 Minute Chocolate and Salted Caramel cake for my dad and Donny – they both gave it the thumbs up. (And I wish I would’ve taken pictures of those, because they puffed straight up over the coffee mugs and looked cool.)

The goal, now, is to not make these too frequently. But, I think they’ll be perfect for when my little toddler friends come out… or my sisters… or when I just need something sweet.  If you’ve got 5 minutes and a sweet tooth, check out this site. (There’s even a 100 calorie recipe – intriguing!)

So, I’ve spent the past two days in my jammies. Also, I’ve eaten about a million popsicles and drank about 500 little juice boxes of Hi-C.  I’m feeling a little bit peppier this evening, so it must’ve paid off.

Bill made it home safe and sound this evening. I’m bummed that I didn’t get to go on the camping trip we’d planned, but I’m sure there will be another.

Honestly, I need to move tomorrow.
