A little bragging… sorry!

– Learn from the past. Live in the present. Plan for the future. –

One of the many great things about observing a lot of classrooms is seeing how teachers decorate their rooms. This is a wonderful sign that hangs out in one of the “portable” classrooms.

Along with other inspirational notes around the school, the kids are showed how important they are and how much they are valued through a daily celebration. This is a time when the whole elementary gathers to sing a song centered around the theme of hard work and collaboration. This semester’s song is “Lean on Me” and my goodness… it brought tears to my eyes. (Maybe I’m just a big baby these days!)

Anyway, my time in Stebbins has been good. I’m traveling with a gal from the district office, and we have both been well taken care of during our stay. Tomorrow we’ll hop on the BSSD plane to take us back to Unalakleet. There I’ll promptly unpack, do some laundry, and get packed for my adventure to Shaktoolik on Thursday.

I’ve been thinking about how much I miss you all lately… both near and far. I think being on the road gives me more time than I need to think. I find myself replaying recent fun times and longing for the next! Thank heavens I am going to get to squeeze in a coffee morning this week!

District contracts were offered yesterday, and Bill has turned his back in… unsigned. We will officially be looking for jobs closer to our Minnesota family next year. It’s very scary to leave the known and take the leap into the pool of resumes, applications, and probably some rejection letters. As we prepare our application documents, though, I can’t believe the things we’ve accomplished in these short years. My goal is to continue that growth wherever I end up. So, I guess this is probably why the sign in the classroom hit me today… We’re working at it!

Alright… 24 is calling my name, and once Open Gym quiets down it’s time for some sleepy! Happy Wednesday, all! Tons of love coming your way. 🙂

    Hey sweet pea….

I know it isn’t easy when you aren’t home…. esp knowing all the yucky stuff going on, BUT know that I love you very much, and can’t wait for you to move closer…. Maybe we can start our own school?

    xoxo

;( we will miss knowing that you were in the same state as us…but we will have to just make a road trip someday to MN.

Life is always an adventure…what fun would it be if it was always predictable and stagnant…enjoy the search for work!

    hugs,

    tiff 🙂

Job search… Blech! I totally know how frustrating and scary it all can be. However, the one thing Josh and I have learned in the past five years–I can’t believe this is our fifth school year–is that everything always works out one way or another!

Josh’s grandpa Haugen passed away last week, and we’ve just come home from his memorial service. I’ve been thinking a lot today about how he lived his nearly 90 years, and I hope that I can make as many people smile as he did in his lifetime. He will be missed, but we celebrate the life he lived.

Anyway, good luck to you in this season of change. If you end up interviewing or whatever in our neck of the woods, we’ve always got room! Of course, you may have to contend with a crying baby… only eight weeks to go!

    Love ya,

    Melissa

Great talking to you today Erin. I’m so happy things are falling in place for your grandparents. Mind if I steal the quote? It’s a good one! That could be a cool theme for my library. All for now. Big hugs. Hey! Maybe we should both put on a little Hawaii music, create a beach drink and pretend we’re with the guys. Hmmmm. Don’t think it will work. Oh well. Wrap up in some flannels and maybe find a good chick flick. Big hugs. Barb
