Happy Valentine's Day

I’m not into the commercialism of any holiday, but I do love every holiday for the traditions or memories it brings. Today I thought, vividly, of four Valentine’s of the past.

🙂 Last year I spent the day in Idaho training teachers in the latest computer tutoring program that SFA offers. I specificially packed my favorite pink sweater… the one I didn’t put on today, because I remembered wearing it last year.

🙂 Two years ago I was in Unalakleet for a facilitator training. There were terrible winter storms, and I ended up getting weathered in here for 2 extra nights while Bill held down the fort in Brevig Mission.

🙂 Eight years ago Bill showed up at my dorm room with a red carnation. We weren’t dating yet, and in fact I wasn’t sure WHAT we were. The carnation came from “Wally’s” – the campus cafeteria. They were giving them out for free. 😉

🙂 Nine years ago a group of my high school friends got dressed up and went out for a fancy dinner. None of us were dating anyone at the time, and it was perfectly wonderful. We ended up at my dad’s place and made fortune cookies that night.

This Valentine’s Day has been nice in its own right. I spent the afternoon working on my Culturally Responsive Schools assignments and made some orange chicken with rice for dinner. Bill and I are going to watch LOST in a bit.

Lots of LOVE coming your way – today, and ALWAYS!

xoxo!

Happy Valentine’s Day! We are not into this holiday either…I am not much into flowers(cuz’ they are dead and look it soon) and well the whole Hallmark idea is just a little disturbing…giggle:) giggle 🙂

However having children now brings a whole ‘nother light on this holiday…which is kinda fun! Our tradition is to make some food product heart shaped…pizza, cookies, pancakes, etc. And they get a little homemade Valentine from me(us)…but that is it. Rick and I don’t acknowledge each other…cuz’ like Rick says…”Every day is Valentines Day…” or he will say “…Honeymoon” in place of Valentines Day…such a romantic…hee:)

I am sending a cyber Hug your way on this special day!

    Miss you like Crazy!

    heart ya,

    Tiff:)

Hey Scootie. Hope your Valentine’s Day was exceptionally wonderfully simple. Mike and I did nothing :). He ordered something for me and it didn’t come, so he was a wee bit annoyed, but I am figuring that it had something to do with the weather around the nation. Anyway, I didn’t need anything and am rather anti-Valentine. But it was sweet of him just the same. So……just killing some time here at work. You know, the usual. It’s been busy this week, and I am glad to be done for the weekend after tonite!!! Yay Me! Dad’s going to be paying us a visit on Friday or Saturday, I am having a little car trouble (but then again, when don’t I?). Love ya lots…. and you know I will probably call ;). ………… Lo

What I nice post! I, too, think that Valentine’s Day is quite overrated. However, it is the one day of the year that Josh KNOWS he’ll have some sort of chocolate dessert. This year, it was an easy chocolate cake with strawberry whipped cream frosting and frest strawberries drizzled with chocolate on top. Other than that, we really didn’t do anything. I’m feeling the strain of late pregnancy. My feet are swollen and my back aches. Throw in the fact that our latest ultrasound predicts a giant baby, and I’m ready to be done any time.

I’m off to find something for supper. Can’t wait to see you again… this summer?!?

    Love,

    Melissa
