Life at the Lake

Tonight I spent nearly an hour at the first type of keyboard I was ever introduced to… the piano. I started a fire over at Gram and Gramp’s place, and I wanted to be sure it started up. It was a perfect opportunity to pull out some music and plunk out a few songs. Listening to me play the piano is pretty painful, I think, but in my mind I’m Beethoven. 😉 I’d forgotten how much I do enjoy playing – but I need a space to practice, because the beginning is not pretty.

It’s been a wonderful weekend. Stacy and Dylan joined me on a Target run before we headed to Gram and Gramp’s yesterday. The three of us spent this afternoon there as well; this time Lo and Uncle Glenn were there too! Dylan keeps us all smiling… and busy! He is an active little guy!

Laura and I headed to Dairy Queen before I came back to the lake. Can I just tell you that ice cream is nature’s perfect food? I used to spend so much time in the ice cream isle trying to decide which one to buy that the store workers would actually come to ask me if they could help! (Sad, but true!)

Dad and I watched Andy Griffith (amazingly, it was an episode I’d never seen!) and then I got to catch up on the lives of my friends on “Wysteria Lane”. 🙂

It will be another quiet day as Ape and Dad head back to work tomorrow. I’m certain I’ll find something fun to do. Can’t help but wish Bill were here with me, but soon enough we’ll be out jumping off the boat and tubing around the lake!

… Which brings me to my “semi-forgotten” survey question. Which season do you look forward to the most? My answer: Certainly Summer (that sounds like a stampin’ up color, girls!) – because I love barbecues, boating, swimming, and just being carefree!

My answer: definitely, absolutely SUMMER!!! I love the sun, and the warm weather, and the last few years, it’s when you come home for awhile!!! All very good things. Had fun going to Dairy Queen with you….Oh yeah…did April tell you that if you fly Alaska Air you should probably ask them if they shut the doors? Apparently, they didn’t shut one of their doors on a flight from Mexico and they had to make an emergency stop in Las Angeles. Cool. anyway….I’ll talk to you soon….Love ya….Lo

Spring is my favorite because it’s getting warm, everything is melting (I don’t even mind the messy slush) and I feel hopeful. I know every day can be a new beginning, but I feel that way especially in spring.

I’m glad you’re enjoying your time at home, Erin!

Spring and Fall are a toss up for me. There’s just something about the crisp, cool air along with all of the changes that happen during those two seasons.

I’m officially done with work as of today–I’m sitting at home just waiting for the baby’s grand entrance. Josh is a wreck… he’s emailed me four times already, and he’s only been at work for an hour!

Funny, writing this made me think of the Jack Johnson song you referenced a few days back. Now, I’ll have to put in on my iTunes.

    Love ya,

    Melissa

    Hi, Erin!

Personally, I think Summer is my all time favorite season. I love being able to mow the lawn, ride a bike, go four-wheelin’, or just plain bake in the warmth of the sun! Of course, I don’t do that like I used to when I was a teenager – yes, I once was young! Anyhoo, I imagine you girls are definitely more summer babies than any other season. After all….you grew up enjoying the lake as soon as it opened – first canoeing, then boating, then swimming, tubing and water skiing….great times, great memories that’ll keep your old Mom smiling forever. I can still see you girls in your little suits….

    Love you lots and lots,

    Mom

SUMMER!!!! I can’t wait! Hey- remember when we tried to tube over to Uncle’ Rick’s and is was soooo rough out there? I had to finally get in the boat because I couldn’t take it anymore?? THat was fun…. painful, but fun!!

I better go get these precious little cherubs back on task. ( What was our teacher’s name that always said cherubs??)

love you- see you around 7

Spring and Fall are a toss up. I love spring, because it signals new growth and life – nothing like the first daffodils and the buds on trees. But I also love the scent of fall and the blazing colors. And, for me, fall has always meant time with family, because that was football season, and we saw my brothers often…I love this survey question 🙂

    XOXO

Fall…I love it…the bugs are not bad, the days are still warm, but the nights are cool…I love the colors even in Alaska. However I do love late Winter/early Spring warmer weather to mush dogs…that is when I actually like to get on the runners with Rick…while the days are longer and the temps are warmer.

Ice Cream…I think if you and I were standing in the aisle together we would never get out of the store…I am horrible…there are just too many choices…if you can believe this…i actually end up not buying any most times, cuz’ i can’t decide.

    miss you like crazy.

    hugs,

    tiff:)

Hey finally checked out your comments, and thought I would reply. Well like any Aune girl my favorite season is summer..Especially July, since all good people are born in that month. Can’t wait for swimming in Black Bay with the boy!!! Glad your home for a while and we’ve gotten to spend some time together. Love ya, Stanny
