It’s been a couple of days of straight relaxation… hard to beat that!
Bill was a tired guy when he flew in Friday afternoon. So, he got a quick nap in while I made up a couple of snacks and Terrence arrived from Golovin. The three of us headed down to the Johnson’s for a night of socializing and then back to the house for a good night’s sleep. (Well, Bill and I got to sleep in.) Bill’s been busy trying to catch up on the hours of shut eye he missed this past month, so it’s been a quiet couple of days.
This morning I decided to make breakfast and bring it to Bill in bed. (This was as much to make sure he got up before noon as it was to be a good wife. 🙂 ) So, our day got off to a good start… and then it got better.

The arrival of my passport on Friday renewed my desire to plan an excursion. We had originally planned to head to Germany, but ticket prices DOUBLED between our initial search and now. So, we checked out some other destinations and agreed on Ireland for this year. And since we won’t have the expense of traveling back and forth to “the Bush” each year, I’m certain we’ll get to Germany soon. At any rate, I’m very excited to have the task of finding some good places to stay and attractions to visit.
In other news… it sounds like running water will again be a reality at Dad’s place. He was digging around in the well today, and there is indeed water in it. I was kind of hoping the camp shower set up was going to be a long-term thing – as long as I’m 3000 miles away! 😉 Actually, I think thing’s are going to start looking up back on the homefront!
Well, it’s 8:30 at night, and we’ll have another good hour + of sunlight. It’s a nice time of year… Several people have asked if having lots of light in the spring and summer is difficult. For me, it’s feels like the reward for making it through another dark winter. So, what do you think – which would be more of a challenge for you? Around 4 hours of daylight in the winter, or nearly 24 hours of daylight in the summer?
I think the 4 hours of daylight in the winter would leave me seriously depressed. Of course, with my sleeping habits, 24 hours of sunlight would probably make life miserable. Still, I’m sticking with the 4 hours of daylight in winter. Anywho….did you call me about Ireland, or was I dreaming? If you did, I really was half awake, and I deleted the message. If not, I guess I’m crazy. Soooooo….I’m hanging out with a labor patient tonite. Fun for me. Talk to you soon…………Love ya lots………….Lo
I’m so excited about your trip to Ireland! How much fun will that be?!?! As for the daylight thing, right now, it wouldn’t matter much. Evan does not discriminate between daylight and darkness when he decides to be wide awake and/or crying while we’d rather be sleeping.
Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say hello! I totally didn’t get the photos up on our blog, but maybe today! The weather is beautiful, though, so we may find some place to take our babe for a stroll.
Love ya,
Melissa
LOVE…LOVE…LOVE the daylight in the spring, summer, fall…I can tolerate the winters with this reward!
I am super jealous…Ireland…rick and i always wanted to do that, but walk from pub to pub…doesn’t that sound like us…we will do that once the babes are bigger!
hugs,
tiff:)
p.s. I would have liked breakfast in bed…come visit NOW! giggle:)
First to answer your question….I’ll take 24 hours of daylight anytime of the year. After all, isn’t that why we have such things as room darkening shades, mini blinds, curtains – you get the picture!
As far as Ireland – good for both of you. Besides your sister being there, my girlfriend, Holly, was there last year. Absolutely love it! Said the different shades of green were so totally unimaginable. Well I guess you’ll be able to imagine all of it! I know that you’ll enjoy the trip no matter where you go – as long as you can be together. Germany will be in your futures, I have no doubt!
You and Bill take care of each other. Miss you lots and lots!
Love to both,
Mom
Hi Erin, just popped on to see what was new with you.. Ireland sounds exciting,,you sure have gone along way from Cook since graduating, lucky for you. Now to answer your question, I would be very crabby and depressed with only 4 hours or daylight ( more so than I already am!!). It’s been beautiful here the last couple of days, “The Boy” is loving being outside, and is feeling much better since his stay in the hospital. Can’t wait for you to get back and to go for a swim in Black Bay. Hi to Bill.. Love ya Stanny
Hey- thanks for letting me have your car. I love it. What a wonderufl gift! It looks great on me~ perfect size and everything! Tell bill thanks too. You really shouldn’t have…..
I would love 24 hours daylight. Everyday. I love sun.
WHOOOO WHOOOO! WE HAVE WATER!! 🙂 No more camping showers~ except maybe just for fun.
It’s report card time… crazy busy. But- so glad it’s the 4th quarter. Only 20 days of k left!!!!
Love you bunches,
sister sunshine
I don’t know what the heck April is talking about. You told me that I get the car…..it’s much more of my size anyway…April is too skinny. Plus, I think it’s my color…I’m an autumn you know…….Love ya lots……Lo PS…I really wish I could’ve seen your M&M……
The passport picture is so cute! I can’t believe you are going to Ireland, I am so excited for you two! Ireland is one place I really want to visit, so I look forward to your stories!!
Hey Erin!
Yea! You got your passport. I am insanely jealous! Ireland sounds like a BLAST. Ireland is on my list of places I so want to see. There is so much interesting history there! And, I bet nothing beats a pint in a REAL Irish pub!
My answer to today’s question – I’d take 24 hours of sun any day!
Hugs,
Andrea
