Our First Tree

Oh Christmas Tree!

Every Christmas since we’ve been married, Bill and I have been flying off from about a week before the holiday until after New Year’s. As a result, we’ve never put up a tree together. We’re not allowed to have a live tree in our apartment, so I’d given up on the idea of a tree here – the expense of “starting” a Christmas tree (skirt, ornaments, tree topper, garland, lights…) combined with the lack of love for an expensive fake tree brought me back to the apartment empty handed after my tree hunt yesterday. Today, though, I found myself wandering through Target where I found this perfect filler for the holidays. It’s a three foot, already lit, fake tree in a planter. It fits perfectly on our coffee table, and it requires little more than the four $0.99 ornaments we’ve hung on it. Our place feels more Christmasy already! Now, I may just have to go hunting for a little mistletoe…

I love it Erin…it is so Christmasy!

We don’t have our tree yet. WE don’t want a dead tree…but we don’t think a live tree will last inside for too long here and the temps outside well that wont work either…

I was shopping for a artificial tree yesterday and no luck…i just couldn’t do it. But we might just have to get a little 3 foot tree…already lit up and in a pot…oh $%#@ we don’t have a Target.

I guess there are trees outside we could decorate…hmmm.

We put our tree up on Friday. It’s beautiful. I’ve always been a purist. I need the real thing–no fake firs for me. However, the expense, the mess, and the length of time I like to keep the tree around are making me think that perhaps if I could find a NICE artificial tree after Christmas this year, I may be persuaded. Josh thinks this is swell. He grew up with the fake stuff. I feel a little like Benedict Arnold…

Your tree looks just fine! It’s nice to have a tree even if it’s a small one. I find it’s easier to store, too! Enjoy your first tree as husband and wife. Memories are always good to have.

    Love you lots and lots,

    Mom

Your decorating skills continue to impress me…..

I can’t wait till you find the mistletoe- let me know where you keep it so I can come give some big smooches to you/Bill. I’m really good at mistletoe games.

Erin… I love it!! I am so envious 🙂 I just shouted at Josh, who was watching the news, ” Josh, Erin has her tree up… I want to decorate now!” So guess what???? We are going to decorate! I am so excited! Thanks for the inspiration 🙂

Enjoy the warmth of your excellent little tree.

PS. Now you just need some xmas tunes, egg nog, and a strong cup of coffee!
