Conferences

I am conducting a little experiment.

I always set a chair up adjacent to the chair I’m sitting in and then another across the table. I like for people to sit beside me instead of across from me… I think it’s less intimidating. (Must be some old Ed Psych thing I learned once upon a time.) Anyway, everyone sits across – if their kid happens to be with them, the kid sits by me.

Funny.

Hey! I sorry I missed out on the pancakes. I’m really sad about that because I love sourdough. Anyway….it’s always fun to see you guys. If I were in Brainerd, I would sit right snuggled up next to you :). But that’s just me……Love you lots……

I would sit by you too. We sit at a circle table, so there really isn’t an option of sitting across. i just put two chairs right next to me….

That is interesting! Show the kids are comfortable! And the parents aren’t 🙂

Did you edit my entry? You are awesome~

I’d sit by you, too. Parents are funny that way. I believe I used to do the same thing when I had conferences with your teachers. Never thought about that before…it is interesting.

Have a great rest of your week. Hope to see you and Bill soon.

    Love you lots and lots,

    Mom

It makes sense to me. Most people, it seems, want to be across from the person they’re talking to. It’s more comfortable, and I think it’s still equal territory. I think Ed Psych mentioned that we shouldn’t be ABOVE the people we’re working with —-

    I hope conferences went well!

Funny!! I did the same thing and they always sat across. My students all ran in and played in the kitchen or built something with blocks… they were so not interested in sitting through a conference.
