Admittedly, I’ve been getting crankier and crankier as the days passed and our pipes stayed frozen. I was losing the adventure in the situation quickly.
Thanks to our local plumbers (one who I happen to be related to – thank you, Jess!), we got a new pipe to run water from the source into our house. This was great news to arrive home to last night. The not-so-great news? Well, the pipes UNDER our house were frozen solid.
A new diesel-fueled heater and a very patient husband later, I’m happy to say that our water is working and so are our drain pipes. Yahoo.
A very valuable lesson has presented itself as well… let me not take anything in life for granted – even the convenience of indoor plumbing!
Wishes for Happy Holidays to you all!
Indoor plumbing is a wonderful thing, but I think losing it or not having it for 6 months makes you appreciate the sound of a toilet flushing, a quick wash of dishes in a sink, a bath that does not include heating up hauled water or laundry that can be thrown into the agitating machine rather than driving it to the local laundry mat.
Enjoy your running water…a nice Christmas present for sure!!!
Yippee for H2O!
Yay!
Running water is a wonderful thing & I am so happy to know you have it back. I have been so worried about you and had a few giggles about the drano, plunger and your trip to the store. Loves to you.
