Happiness

Lately I haven’t felt like I’ve been filling my time with anything that seems noteworthy. Still, I feel content.

For a long time I’ve been wanting to share this little newspaper clipping my grandma had pinned up on the cork board in her kitchen. I’ve kept it up since her house became ours. It’s been playing over in my mind lately.

“For most of life, nothing wonderful happens. If you don’t enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are you’re not going to be very happy. If someone bases his happiness or un-happiness on major events like a great enw job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn’t going to be happy much of the time.

If on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness.”

So very true. I think Grandma Aune lived life that way. That’s why she was so happy!

I ran across this ‘thought on life’ the other day as I was searching quotes and it really stuck with me. To see it on your blog as something your Gramma found and you keep pinned up in the house, makes it all the more meaningful to me. I think this advice on life is just right!

So true. Cook MN is a good place to practice this philosophy, I think.
