8 PM

Bill and I headed outside around 8 tonight. It is a clear, crisp evening. The stars are twinkling overhead, but otherwise it’s quite dark. It’s hard to believe that 8:00 can feel so late.

Something Different

Today April found a new recipe on Pintrest. I couldn’t wait to try it. Apparently microwave mug cakes have become all the rage. I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical, but the recipes had good reviews. And now, well, I’m on board!

What I love about this recipe is that it literally takes less than 5 minutes from start to finish, and it’s really tasty. This particular recipe is the Chocolate Peanut Butter Mug Cake, but I also made the 2 Minute Chocolate and Salted Caramel cake for my dad and Donny – they both gave it the thumbs up. (And I wish I would’ve taken pictures of those, because they puffed straight up over the coffee mugs and looked cool.)

The goal, now, is to not make these too frequently. But, I think they’ll be perfect for when my little toddler friends come out… or my sisters… or when I just need something sweet.  If you’ve got 5 minutes and a sweet tooth, check out this site. (There’s even a 100 calorie recipe – intriguing!)

So, I’ve spent the past two days in my jammies. Also, I’ve eaten about a million popsicles and drank about 500 little juice boxes of Hi-C.  I’m feeling a little bit peppier this evening, so it must’ve paid off.

Bill made it home safe and sound this evening. I’m bummed that I didn’t get to go on the camping trip we’d planned, but I’m sure there will be another.

Honestly, I need to move tomorrow.

Already Friday Night

Clean sheets make me happy. It’s one of the little things that always puts a smile on my face.

Tonight, along with my clean sheets, I’ve got a tall glass of ice water and ALIAS on my television. I’m starting to feel a little better, too. Things are looking up.

Nothing Much

Today was a day of sub plans, sleeping, dr. office, more sleeping, and watching episodes of Friends.

Tonight’s line up includes: sleeping.

I will shake this soon!

January 10

Tonight I am sick. I believe I was just bragging about how I wasn’t going to take any of my sick days this year. That’s what I get…

Also, it is my half birthday today. Half birthdays are something acknowledged by people born in the summer, because in elementary school, if you wanted to celebrate with your class – that’s when you did it. It’s funny to me that I recognize my half birthday. There was no Dairy Queen cake tonight, but Bill did bring lots of popsicles and even some Haagen-Dasz to soothe my throat.

Early to bed tonight. (earlier, that is)

Another Day of Sunshine

Alright, I don’t plan to just post about the weather here, but it’s the most incredible thing happening around these parts right now. Bill is bummed out about the lack of snow and cold. I, on the other hand, am enjoying the chance to walk outside with just a light jacket and no hat or gloves.

I’ve got a really busy work week ahead of me, so I’m just kind of keeping my head down and plowing through it. I guess that’s why I really appreciate this break from winter weather. It reminds me to stop and enjoy life in the midst of the day-to-day hustle and bustle. It’s nearly impossible to ignore these unusual days. If that’s what it takes right now to remind me how lucky I am – each and every day – I’ll take it.

Just Another Sunday Night

Alas, the weekend is coming to an end. It’s amazing how quickly these two days go… always. I slept quite soundly Friday night and headed out shopping with April Saturday morning. While I was off gallivanting, Bill was busy working on the ski trails. Now the trick will be to have some snow fall.

We headed into the Glass’s place for dinner and visiting with some friends. The guys were busy brewing downstairs, and four of us gals were upstairs with the kiddos. It was a nice, low-key night – the kind that makes me wish we did that kind of thing more often.

Today we took advantage of another warm day out on the skating rink. The temps are supposed to start dropping at the end of the week, so I’m happy to soak in the warmth while I can!

The moon was gorgeous as it rose across the bay tonight. I wish I could get a picture that would do it justice, but this one will have to do. I do love all that beautiful blue!

Adventures of a Traveling Spoon

Our friend, Inkari, sent us a great big box of chocolate from Germany this holiday season. German chocolate is just incredible… I can’t even explain how. I am told that the chocolate in Europe is made of pure milk fat and without oil like we get it in the states. Whatever it is, it’s great.

Anyway, amongst all of the goodies there was this blue envelope. It contained one of our spoons that had somehow made its way back to Germany with Inkari. I absolutely loved the note that came with it.

“I wanted to see what it looks like in Germany, so I traveled with Inkari to Trier. Now it’s time to go home again…”
